Advanced Studies
Advanced studies
Deepen the journey
The Living Philosophy Course is the first stage of a longer philosophical path. Advanced Studies are for those who have completed the introductory course and want to continue exploring philosophy more deeply, not only as knowledge, but as an ongoing way of life.
Through deeper study, regular philosophical practice, community life, and opportunities to transform ideals into action, members continue to develop the tools introduced in Living Philosophy and to apply them more deeply to themselves, society, and the world.
Advanced Studies draw on the philosophical traditions of East and West, bringing together philosophy, psychology, science, art, religion, and symbolism in the search for a more integrated understanding of life.
More than further study
Philosophy becomes an ongoing practice
The introductory course gives you the foundations. As a member, the journey continues through several interconnected dimensions:
Deeper study: Explore philosophical ideas and traditions with greater depth and continuity.
Practice: Continue working with attention, reflection, self-knowledge, ethics and the practical application of philosophy.
Community: Learn and grow alongside others who have chosen to continue the same philosophical path.
Service: Find practical ways to place your abilities, values and philosophical ideals at the service of others.
The path continues
Areas of Advanced Study

Deepen your understanding of the human being, the universe and the Divine through comparative study of philosophical traditions, religions and schools of perennial wisdom.
Applied Philosophy and Ethics
Learn to bring philosophical principles into the challenges of everyday and collective life.
Explore timeless ethical principles and develop greater discernment in applying them to relationships, decisions, responsibility and contemporary problems.
Symbolism of Ancient Civilisations
Learn to read the symbolic language through which humanity has expressed deeper realities.
Explore myths and sacred symbols from civilisations including Egypt, Greece, Rome, India, China, Japan, and the Americas, before moving on to deeper studies of symbolism in nature, architecture, and the human experience.
Oratory
Develop the ability to express philosophical ideas with clarity, confidence and purpose.
Rediscover oratory as more than public speaking: the art of organising thought, communicating meaning and sharing ideas in a way that can reach others.
As the journey deepens
Over time, members encounter further areas of study including Moral Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Philosophy of the Sciences, Comparative Religions, Metaphysical Aesthetics, Contemporary Philosophy, Oriental Philosophy, Dialectics, Astrology and Alchemy.
These studies form part of a progressive philosophical education designed to broaden understanding while continually returning to the central challenge: how can wisdom be lived?
A path that continues
The Living Philosophy Course introduces the foundations. Advanced Studies allow members to deepen them over time and increasingly integrate Living Philosophy into their way of life.
