Our Principles

Fraternity

Fraternity

To promote an ideal of fraternity based on respect for human dignity, beyond any differences of gender, culture, religion or social class.

Fraternity

The strength of this ideal lies more in what unites us than in what separates us. It is firmly based on a recognition of universal values which, while respecting diversity, transcend local practices and come together in a set of common ethical principles inherent in the dignity of every human being.

Knowledge

Knowledge

To encourage the love of wisdom through the comparative study of philosophies, religions, sciences and arts.

Knowledge

We understand philosophy as an axis connecting the different facets of human knowledge — bringing together sources of the past and present in a global vision that becomes a real force for progress which seeks not only to explore the paths of life, but to go deeply into its ultimate ends.

Development

To develop the best part of the human being by promoting each person’s fulfilment as an individual and as an active member of society.

Development

To act in harmony with Nature in order to improve the world. Our work results in better individuals who bring sustainability to social development. The achievement of harmony between thought, feeling and action is a goal for every human being — probably the only guarantee of moving towards a better world.

New Acropolis International

New Acropolis Australia

New Acropolis Australia is part of the International Organisation New Acropolis, a School of Philosophy dedicated to studying and practising philosophy as a way of life.

Philosophy is a practical path of self-knowledge, inner development and meaningful action in the world.

Through philosophy courses, cultural activities and volunteering, we create opportunities for people to explore timeless ideas, put them into practice and connect with a community of others who want to grow and make a meaningful impact.

Our activities are open to everyone, regardless of background or previous experience.

National Director, New Acropolis Australia

Ariel Druckman

Ariel Druckman is a philosopher, architect, and educator. His journey with New Acropolis began in Israel in 2000, where he started studying the philosophical traditions of East and West. He founded a new branch in Beer-Sheva and, a few years later, was appointed director of the Jerusalem branch. In 2014, he was appointed as National Director of New Acropolis Australia, and is based in Melbourne to this day.

Through courses, lectures and workshops, Ariel explores ethics, practical psychology, symbolism and the relevance of classical philosophy to contemporary life. His teaching encourages people to put philosophical ideas into practice, developing self-knowledge, independent thought and a greater sense of responsibility towards others.

Ariel studied architecture at Tel Aviv University and holds a Graduate Certificate in Adult and Vocational Education and Training from Deakin University. Alongside his volunteer work with New Acropolis, he teaches design and architecture at educational institutions around Melbourne.

As National Director, he works with volunteers and instructors to develop educational programmes, cultural events and volunteering initiatives. His work centres on philosophy as a way of life: an ongoing effort to cultivate character, connect ideas with actions, and contribute to a more thoughtful and humane society.
